Sempati adds extra flights
JAKARTA (JP): Sempati Air, one of the scheduled air carriers in Indonesia, will add extra flights to benefit from the travel boom expected during the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
The company said over the weekend it would make 39 additional flights between Dec. 15 and Jan. 15, 1997.
The additional flight services include two on the Jakarta- Medan route, nine on the Medan-Jakarta route, 14 on the Denpasar- Surabaya route and 14 on the Surabaya-Denpasar route.
Sempati also switched from narrow to wide-body aircraft for the Medan-Penang-Medan and Jakarta-Ujungpandang-Manado- Ujungpandang-Jakarta routes.
Meanwhile, Ansett Australia has added 20 extra flights to Bali to help Australian travelers reach the tourist island for the Christmas holiday.
Ansett announced that the extra flight figure represented an increase of 60 percent over the airlines' additional services in 1995.
Ansett normally links 10 direct flights per week from Denpasar to Australia. (icn)
