Semen Indonesia (SMGR) Completes Rp 1.4 Trillion Jetty Project in Tuban
JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, has completed the development project for a jetty and production facilities at the Tuban plant in East Java. The completion is marked by the issuance of the Taking Over Certificate. This document states that the project has met technical standards, safety, and operational readiness. SIG President Director Indrieffouny Indra stated that this Rp 1.4 trillion project is an important step for global market expansion. This step is taken amid domestic market facing excess production capacity. “The development of facilities in Tuban is designed to meet the demand for exports of special type cement with international-class specifications, including increasing the jetty capacity from 15,000 DWT to 50,000 DWT,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026). The logistics system is strengthened with a 4.1 kilometre tube conveyor. Storage facilities are also enhanced through a blending silo with a capacity of 8,000 tons, a clinker silo of 15,000 tons, and two cement silos each of 18,000 tons. This infrastructure supports an export capacity of up to 1 million tons of cement per year. Supply chain performance and distribution efficiency are also improved. Indra stated that this project helps increase factory utilisation when domestic demand slows. “In addition to expanding penetration into high-value export markets, this portfolio advantage also strengthens SIG’s position in the global industry arena,” added Indra. SIG targets exports to become a new source of growth. The company also aims to strengthen Indonesia’s role in the global construction industry supply chain.
