The Semarang City Government is accelerating infrastructure handling in various areas, from upgrading strategic roads and repairing neighbourhood routes to dredging waterways. These steps aim to ensure smooth mobility for residents, enhance road user safety, and reduce the risk of flooding and waterlogging.

One major achievement is evident on Jalan Pramuka in Pudakpayung Ward, which has been repaired and inaugurated by the Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng, along with Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Mochamad Herviano Widyatama, on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. The road can now be utilised by the public as an important access point in the upper areas of Semarang City.

Agustina stated that the Jalan Pramuka improvement project is part of the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads (IJD) programme, with a contract value of Rp18.9 billion, covering road widening from 4.5 metres to 5.5 metres as well as the construction of drainage along 2.3 kilometres. She explained that Jalan Pramuka plays a strategic role as a connector between educational and residential areas in the upper region of Semarang City.

“Jalan Pramuka is an icon of upper Semarang City that connects two major educational centres, UNDIP and UNNES. This road serves as the main route used daily by students and the public,” said Agustina.

According to her, these improvements bring direct benefits to the community, from faster travel times and reduced accident risks due to damaged roads to increased comfort in daily activities. “This inauguration is not just a road repair, but a pathway of hope that opens access, strengthens connectivity, and encourages community economic activity,” she continued.

The development of Jalan Pramuka is the result of collaboration between the central government through the Ministry of Public Works, the Central Java-DIY Main Implementation Unit for National Roads (BBPJN), and support from Commission V of the House of Representatives.

“The Mayor of Semarang cannot proceed alone. Support from the central government through the Ministry of Public Works, the role of the House of Representatives, and synergy among various parties are key to accelerating development so that its benefits are directly felt by the community,” Agustina emphasised.

Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Mochamad Herviano Widyatama, reaffirmed his commitment to continue overseeing Semarang City’s infrastructure needs to ensure optimal realisation. “This development programme is part of the collaboration between the central and local governments that we continue to promote. It is hoped that the built infrastructure will provide tangible benefits to the community and support regional connectivity,” he said.
