Semarang-Godong Road Repairs Accelerated, Target Completion by H-7 Eid
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi conducted a direct inspection of repair progress in Tinanding Village, Godong District. He sought to ensure that dyke and road repair work would be completed according to schedule.
Observations at the site showed that the collapsed dyke had been sealed and awaited material hardening, whilst road repairs remained at the base hardening stage. Despite temporary delays caused by water seepage from the Tuntang River, work continued to ensure the route could be reopened quickly.
“This will be finished by H-7 Eid. We’re adapting—the important thing is that it’s hardened and passable. Once this is done, we’ll shift directly to the regency road that serves as an alternative route,” Luthfi stated in a written statement on Monday (2 March 2026).
He made this statement whilst inspecting the site and issuing direct instructions to the Head of the Central Java Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (DPUPR).
Head of DPUPR Central Java, Henggar Budi Anggoro, said repairs were proceeding round the clock. Progress on handling currently stands at approximately 75 per cent.
“Hopefully, our target for completion within two weeks will be achieved. So before Eid, we should be able to reopen it again for traffic activities or movement from Purwodadi to Semarang or vice versa,” he said.
Henggar explained that the initial approach to repair the severed road had planned to use an armco bridge, with materials already delivered to the site. However, following evaluation, another road section was found to have shifted structurally, requiring demolition and reconstruction.
“The total length of missing road is 60 metres. The armco will not be installed; instead, permanent repairs will be conducted using reinforced concrete pouring,” he explained.
The Tuntang River dyke in Tinanding Village, Godong, Grobogan, collapsed on 16 February 2026. The incident resulted in total severance of the Semarang-Godong road stretch at KM 35, whilst water overflow temporarily inundated surrounding areas.
Previously, Ahmad Luthfi had also requested the national Public Works Ministry through the Pemali-Juana Large River Basin Authority (BBWS) to accelerate closure of the collapsed dyke. He also proposed that Tuntang River normalisation be conducted urgently to reduce the risk of similar incidents.
