The Semarang City Government has brought good news to the community through a tax incentive policy in the form of a 10 per cent discount on Land and Building Tax (PBB) payments. This programme was launched as a gift to mark the 479th anniversary of Semarang City, accompanied by a proactive outreach service through the “Pakdesemar Jalan-Jalan” programme.

Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng stated that the policy is a form of appreciation from the government to the community for their contributions to the city’s development.

“In this special moment of Semarang City’s 479th anniversary, the City Government wants to give a special gift to residents through a 10 per cent PBB discount. This is a token of thanks for the role of all the community in maintaining and building this city together,” she said.

The 10 per cent PBB discount programme has been in effect since 1 March and extended until 31 May 2026. In addition, the policy also includes the waiver of penalties for PBB arrears for the period from 2020 to 2025, providing additional relief for taxpayers.

Not only that, the Semarang City Government also supports the Central Java Provincial Government’s “GAS JATENG” programme, which offers a 5 per cent discount on Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB), effective from 20 February to 31 December 2026.

“The implementation period for the PBB discount is more than two months, so the community has plenty of time. We also encourage the public to take advantage of the GAS JATENG programme for the 5 per cent PKB discount, which can be paid directly at Samsat or online for ease and mutual relief,” Agustina continued.

To facilitate access to payments, the Semarang City Revenue Agency (Bapenda) has deployed the “Pakdesemar” mobile unit at various strategic locations, such as the Car Free Day area at Simpang Lima, Kalibanteng, and UMKM markets in Setiabudi and Banyumanik. This service not only handles tax payments but also provides consultations and attractive souvenirs for the community.

“We are taking a proactive approach in 16 sub-districts by bringing mobile services to event locations or activities by the City Government or the community, CFDs, and malls or shopping centres to bring services closer and ease local tax payments, especially PBB. In addition, our officers are ready to provide education so that the public better understands the benefits of the taxes they pay,” she added.

Through this combination of fiscal incentives, the government hopes to lighten the burden on the community while increasing tax compliance. The Semarang City anniversary momentum is also expected to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation in building a more advanced city.

“This birthday gift for Semarang City is expected to ease the financial burden on families while simplifying administrative matters for residents. Let us celebrate our city’s age with a spirit of tax discipline, because this contribution will return in the form of higher quality public services,” Agustina concluded.
