The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) has tightened surveillance at Cawang City Park following allegations of immoral conduct involving men at the location.

“Security is being provided by the Civil Police Units from Kebon Pala and Makasar District. There is already coordination with the Social Services Department and the Parks and Forest Management Unit of East Jakarta,” said Iwan Sulaiman, Forest Supervisor for East Jakarta, to detikcom at Cawang City Park on Saturday (28 February 2026).

“Last night, a combined team from three pillars—the Social Services Department, Civil Police Units, and the Makasar District and Sub-district—monitored activities at Cawang City Park,” he added.

Beyond strict surveillance, Iwan explained that excessively dense trees have been trimmed. Additionally, gaps that could serve as entry points for alleged offenders have been sealed.

“The East Jakarta Parks and Forest Management Unit responded swiftly to address the entry of alleged offenders into Cawang City Park. The team from the Parks Management Unit immediately took action regarding the concrete sealing of access routes used by alleged offenders,” Iwan stated.

“Concrete sealing work continued with repairs to damaged fences by the East Jakarta Parks and Forest Management team. This was followed by tree trimming of excessively dense vegetation by the East Jakarta Parks and Forest team,” he continued.

The alleged offenders were believed to have entered the park through a small gap between the fence and wall at night. This gap, used as an entry point at night, is located near the underpass of the Cawang-Grogol toll road on Jalan DI Pandjaitan, East Jakarta. The gap marks the final point of the park’s boundary fence with the pavement.

The gap measured less than 1 metre. At the base of the gap were several large stones, reportedly used as stepping stones by offenders to squeeze into Cawang City Park.

The gap has now been permanently sealed with concrete. The concrete seal completely covers the opening and is currently supported by plywood.

The closure was carried out by the East Jakarta City Government in coordination with various cross-sectoral agencies, involving the Parks and Forest Management Sub-unit.
