Tangerang — The Deputy Commander of Jakarta Metro Police, Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono, has disclosed that he discovered security disturbances in the area of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, whilst conducting a preparedness check for Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 security.

One of the key security concerns identified was the presence of illegal debt collectors, referred to locally as “mata elang” (hawk eye), operating in the airport car park.

“The airport command reported that illegal debt collector activity continues in the car park and prevention measures have already been implemented,” Dekananto said at Terminal 3 Arrivals at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

According to him, security operations focus not only on the airport terminal area itself, but also encompass traveller access routes from homes to the airport. Police are monitoring traffic flow to Soekarno-Hatta Airport to ensure it does not disrupt passenger departure schedules.

“This occurs once a year, so we must serve the public well,” he said.

Dekananto also urged airlines to minimise flight delays during the Eid holiday travel period. “If delays do occur, I ask that clear information be provided so that people do not panic, as this is when they reunite with family,” he stated.

During his inspection, Dekananto visited the Eid Alert Post at Terminal 3, where he received briefings on the anticipated surge in passenger numbers ahead of Eid 2026. He also inspected security checkpoints at the terminal’s arrivals entrance.

Dekananto confirmed the readiness of combined personnel comprising police, military, airport staff, and other relevant agencies to secure the holiday travel corridors. Security will be concentrated at vulnerable points both within the airport and at passenger access routes.

“All personnel have been placed on standby to anticipate passenger surges and potential security disturbances during the Eid holiday period,” he said.

Staff have also been deployed to assist passengers with services, including providing information and addressing any on-site difficulties. Dekananto emphasised that inter-agency coordination continues to ensure optimal implementation of Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026.

“Cooperation between agencies is crucial so that the public feels safe and comfortable during their holiday travel,” he concluded.
