Jakarta – Thousands of homebound travellers have been officially dispatched to West Sumatra in the Pulang Basamo 2026 programme. The second wave of dispatches comprises West Sumatran residents living abroad.

Muhammad Reza Ikhwan, Coordinator of Pulang Basamo 2026, stated that programme participants registered through an online mechanism. The online registration system was deliberately designed to reach West Sumatran migrants throughout Indonesia.

“The reason we use online registration is that it allows us to reach migrants not only in the Greater Jakarta area, but also across Indonesia,” Reza Ikhwan said while dispatching the second wave convoy at Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

Reza Ikhwan disclosed that the furthest participants in the programme hail from Samarinda and Bali. They registered directly through Pulang Basamo 2026’s programme partner, Loket.com.

“Within one hour of opening registration on our website, all tickets were sold out. It’s like buying concert tickets,” he said.

Reza Ikhwan expressed gratitude to the West Sumatra Police Regional Command for escorting the Pulang Basamo 2026 dispatches from the first wave to the present.

“This has ensured that the first and second wave journeys proceed smoothly, arriving at their destinations on schedule and without incident,” he said.

Meanwhile, West Sumatra Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Solihin stated that the escorting of Pulang Basamo 2026 convoys follows instructions from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to serve the public.

He stated that buses carrying homebound travellers will be escorted until reaching West Sumatra. The arrival of each convoy will be welcomed directly by several district police chiefs.

“There will be three checkpoints: in Lampung, Kota Lembang, and Kota Kasihukara; the second at Upamata; and further checkpoints in Jakarta and Padang, where there are steep hills. The convoys will then be divided according to their respective destinations,” he said.

Solihin assured that there would be no difficulties during the Pulang Basamo 2026 journey, with escorting of the buses conducted in a hierarchical manner.
