Jakarta, VIVA – Following strong public enthusiasm, the second period of the new banknote exchange service under the Semarak Rupiah Ramadan dan Berkah Idulfitri (SERAMBI) 2026 programme reopened on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

Bank Indonesia (BI) has divided the exchange ordering schedule into two phases. For the Java region, the first phase opened on 13 February 2026, whilst the second phase was brought forward and commenced today, 24 February 2026, at 08:00 Western Indonesian Time, and will remain open until quotas are filled.

For areas outside Java, the first phase began on 14 February 2026, with the second phase scheduled to start on 27 February 2026 at 08:00 local time, also running until quotas are exhausted.

To obtain new banknotes, members of the public must place orders in advance through the PINTAR application, available at pintar.bi.go.id. BI has confirmed that it will not accept walk-in exchanges without prior official booking through the system.

BI Executive Director of the Communications Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, explained that the banknote exchange service under SERAMBI 2026 is conducted in packages with a set maximum limit per individual. Each package of new banknotes has a maximum value of Rp5.3 million, comprising denominations of Rp20,000, Rp10,000, Rp5,000, Rp2,000, and Rp1,000.

“In 2026, BI has prepared Rp8.6 trillion for the banknote exchange service, with a value of Rp5.3 million per package,” said Denny in an official statement cited on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

The maximum exchange limits per person are as follows:

  • Rp50,000: 50 notes (Rp2,500,000)
  • Rp20,000: 50 notes (Rp1,000,000)
  • Rp10,000: 100 notes (Rp1,000,000)
  • Rp5,000: 100 notes (Rp500,000)
  • Rp2,000: 100 notes (Rp200,000)
  • Rp1,000: 100 notes (Rp100,000)

With this composition, the total value of banknotes in a single exchange package reaches Rp5.3 million per person.

The SERAMBI 2026 programme is a collaborative initiative between Bank Indonesia and banking institutions. The central bank has prepared Rp185.6 trillion in fit-for-circulation cash for the period spanning Ramadan through to Eid al-Fitr 2026. Of that total, Rp177 trillion has been allocated to meet banking sector needs through cash withdrawal services via ATMs and branch offices across Indonesia.
