JAKARTA - Traffic on the Sigli-Banda Aceh toll road was recorded to surge by up to 251 percent on the second day of Eid or the period of 22 March 2026, in line with the still high mobility of the public during the homecoming flow period.

Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), Hamdani, stated that the significant increase occurred on 22 March 2026.

“Vehicle traffic on the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road Sections 2-6 (Seulimeum-Baitussalam) was recorded at 14,461 vehicles, an increase of 251 percent compared to normal traffic,” said Hamdani, quoted from a press release on Monday (23/3/2026).

In general, Hutama Karya continues to monitor vehicle traffic developments on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) during the Eid return flow period in 2026.

The traffic increase mainly occurred on main routes connecting cities and access to urban areas.

This condition is influenced by the ongoing movement of the public, both for return trips and to tourist destinations.

Several other toll roads also recorded significant increases, including the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road with 64,283 vehicles or an increase of 197.88 percent, and the Pekanbaru-XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road up 178.89 percent.

In addition, the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road recorded 25,468 vehicles or an increase of 148.32 percent, and the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road (Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan) with 23,912 vehicles or up 148.64 percent compared to normal traffic.

Meanwhile, on toll roads operated functionally during the return flow, the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road Section 1 (Seulimeum-Padang Tiji) recorded traffic of 6,219 vehicles. The Palembang-Betung Toll Road (Kramasan-Pangkalan Balai) recorded 5,928 vehicles.

Hutama Karya stated that monitoring is carried out continuously as part of efforts to maintain smoothness, safety, and comfort for road users during the Eid period.
