School Holiday Schedule for Eid 2026 Totals 16 Days, Here Are the Details
The Indonesian government has officially established the school holiday schedule for Eid 2026, running for 16 calendar days commencing 14 March through 29 March 2026. Teaching and learning activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, 30 March 2026.
The decision is outlined in a Joint Ministerial Circular (SEB) from the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, the Minister of Religious Affairs, and the Minister of Internal Affairs concerning Learning during the Islamic Month of Ramadan in 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE.
The policy also references a Joint Ministerial Decision (SKB) of Three Ministers regarding National Holidays and Joint Leave for 2026.
With this arrangement, the school holiday period encompasses weekends, the sacred Hindu observance of Nyepi, and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. Seven days of holidays are designated in relation to the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah period under the SKB.
The synchronisation between school holiday schedules and the national holiday calendar is expected to provide certainty for parents in planning their homecoming journeys.
This was announced following a meeting with the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, at Jakarta City Hall on 18 February 2026.
“We welcome the work from anywhere arrangement beginning 13 through 27 or 28 March. This means the range is quite extended,” said Pramono to journalists.
The government hopes that the combination of an extended school holiday schedule, flexible working arrangements, and phased homecoming management can help alleviate traffic congestion during the 2026 Eid period and provide comfort for those wishing to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in their hometowns.
