Scandal: US First Lady Speaks Out on Being an "Victim" of Jeffrey Epstein
US First Lady Melania Trump has spoken out regarding rumours circulating about her and the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She strongly condemned the “gossip” as “false”. “I am not an Epstein victim,” said Melania Trump, quoted by AFP on Friday (10/4/2026). “Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump.” This was revealed during her statement to the US Congress on Thursday evening. She described all existing issues as lies. “I never knew about Epstein’s abuse of his victims,” she said regarding the late offender who died by suicide in a US prison. “I was never involved in any capacity. I was not a participant,” she emphasised. “The lies linking me to Jeffrey Epstein, which are embarrassing, must end today,” she added. “Those who lie about me lack ethical standards, humility, and respect. I have no issue with their ignorance, but I reject their malicious efforts to smear my reputation.” It is unclear what prompted the First Lady to comment on Epstein. Previously, an announcement from her office on Wednesday only stated that she would give a statement at the White House on Thursday, without mentioning the topic. However, in her statement, the text of which was later uploaded online by the White House, Melania acknowledged having written an email to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s girlfriend and “accomplice” who has now been convicted. That email was one of millions of documents related to Epstein and Maxwell that have been released by the Department of Justice in accordance with legislation mandating the publication of such documents. The email was uploaded to X on 10 February as part of a series of tweets by a Democratic Party member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Trump himself was friends with Epstein for over a decade.
