Scam in SPPG Point Registration: Fraudsters Pose as BGN Officials
JAKARTA – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has exposed several fraud schemes under the guise of processing Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) points in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, with scammers posing as BGN officials.
‘The victims were scammed by individuals posing as close associates of BGN officials or even claiming to be BGN officials themselves, or acquaintances of officials, offering to register SPPG points in exchange for payment,’ said BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya during a press conference at the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026.
The ID was then used to convince potential victims to hand over money with promises of assistance in obtaining SPPG points.
‘He would offer himself as a BGN official or claim to have connections with BGN, saying, “I can help you, I can help you,” then handle the registration. That’s when the transaction occurs,’ he explained.
Victims were then asked to pay fees ranging from Rp25 million to Rp50 million.
However, victims never received SPPG IDs as the service providers were not the official registration authorities.
‘There are also cases where NGOs or companies are set up, promising people SPPG point IDs,’ Sony added.
He stressed that BGN has never collaborated with any organisations, companies, or groups in the SPPG point registration process.
Sonny explained that the MBG programme registration process is conducted directly by foundations through the official portal mitra.bgn.go.id, with steps including identity verification, legal documentation, and kitchen location checks.
‘BGN once again confirms it has never collaborated with any organisations or companies for SPPG point registration. Only foundations register directly,’ he stressed.
One case handled by police in West Java Police has resulted in total losses of Rp1.9 billion.
The losses came from 21 victims, averaging around Rp100 million per person.
‘The West Java case amounts to Rp1.9 billion,’ Sony said.
