Saudi Arabia expresses condolences over deaths of Kuwaiti and UAE military personnel
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Saudi Arabia has conveyed expressions of condolences to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on Monday, 9 March, following the deaths of several armed forces and security personnel from both nations whilst carrying out their duties.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow and sincere condolences from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the governments and peoples of the friendly nations of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
The statement also affirmed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with both Gulf nations and emphasised that the Kingdom stands alongside Kuwait and the UAE and is prepared to support any steps they may take.
The statement also conveyed hopes for the swift recovery of those injured.
Kuwait stated on Sunday, 8 March, that two officers were killed whilst on duty during a wave of attacks targeting several locations, particularly Kuwait International Airport.
Regional escalation has intensified since the United States and Israel launched a combined assault on Iran on 28 February, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran subsequently retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting U.S. military assets.
