Satpol PP Engages Residents in Mitigating Public Order Disruptions
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The North Seribu Islands sub-district Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) is involving residents in efforts to mitigate public order disturbances. It held a public-participation-based mitigation awareness session at the Pulau Kelapa urban village office in North Seribu Islands.
“The session is a way to improve public understanding and awareness of potential public order disturbances in their area,” Edi Syahrudi, head of the North Seribu Islands Satpol PP task force, said in Jakarta on Monday.
He said prevention would be more effective with public participation.
“We hope that the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas), the Early Awareness Community Forum (FKDM), and neighbourhood and community association leaders can continue working with Satpol PP to share information, raise awareness and help maintain order in their respective communities,” Edi said.
He added that cooperation between officers and residents was expected to strengthen efforts to mitigate public order disturbances and help create a safe and stable environment.
“This will help create a safe, comfortable environment that supports harmonious community life,” Edi said.
He said the session involved Satlinmas, FKDM, neighbourhood and community association leaders, and representatives of the Pulau Kelapa urban village administration.
Pulau Kelapa Urban Village Head Muhammad Adriansyah said public involvement was an important factor in maintaining security and order in the community.
He said prevention required joint efforts and coordination between government officials and all sections of the community. Residents’ active role was essential to detecting potential public order disturbances at an early stage.
“With good communication and coordination, various potential problems can be anticipated so the area remains safe, orderly and stable,” Edi said.
