The Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Task Force is urging ministries and agencies to expedite administrative documentation and budget revision processes to ensure optimal implementation of recovery efforts in disaster-affected areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated the government has allocated approximately IDR 60 trillion to support post-disaster handling in Sumatra.

However, budget absorption remains dependent on the readiness of submissions, document completeness, and timely program execution by relevant ministries and agencies.

Sumatra Post-Disaster PRR Task Force Chairman Muhammad Tito Karnavian said the government, through the Ministry of Finance, has created a streamlined process for ministries and agencies to submit budget requests and supporting documents.

“The Finance Minister is ready to receive letters and supporting documents from ministries and agencies for Sumatra disaster management budgets. Therefore, we urge all parties to expedite administrative completeness to speed up fund disbursement and on-ground implementation,” Tito said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Friday, 29 May 2026.

He added that budget readiness must be matched with execution readiness to achieve timely recovery targets for affected communities.

“We all know speed is essential. Once the budget is approved, execution must follow immediately. There must be no delay in implementation after funds are allocated,” Tomsi said.

He explained that various rehabilitation and reconstruction tasks—including river dredging, landslide-prone area reinforcement, infrastructure repair, and disaster-affected zone rehabilitation—require acceleration to ensure immediate community benefits and enhanced future risk mitigation.

To support this, the PRR Task Force is offering assistance to ministries and agencies facing challenges in budget revision and disbursement processes.

“Our aim is to expedite fund disbursement and on-ground implementation so rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts can proceed swiftly, allowing communities to quickly experience tangible government assistance,” Tomsi said.
