Sarolangun Police Arrest Drug Dealer Armed with Homemade Firearm
The Jambi Regional Police have arrested a drug dealer in possession of a homemade firearm in Sarolangun Regency. The suspect, identified as HS, 28, was apprehended on Wednesday evening while conducting a methamphetamine transaction in Lubuk Napal village, Pauh District.
Sarolangun Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Wendi Oktariansyah confirmed the arrest, stating that officers from the Sarolangun Narcotics Unit, supported by the Pauh Police Station, had been monitoring the suspect’s activities. During a search witnessed by village officials and local residents, the team seized two packets of methamphetamine weighing 0.22 grammes, a homemade pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, a bong, empty plastic clips, and two mobile phones.
Preliminary investigations revealed that HS had been distributing narcotics in the Lubuk Napal area, a region previously notorious for illegal crude oil refining, for the past two years. The suspect claimed the drugs were supplied by an individual who is now the subject of an ongoing manhunt. Police are also investigating how the suspect obtained the homemade firearm and ammunition.
Wendi reiterated the police’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and appealed for continued public support. “Let us work together to make Sarolangun Regency safe, comfortable, and free from drugs. Any information from the community, no matter how small, is very meaningful in maintaining a conducive security situation,” he said. The public is encouraged to use the free 24-hour police hotline 110 to report any information.
