Sarmuji: Hajj Officials More Disciplined in 2026 Mecca Pilgrimage
The Chairman of the Golkar Party’s faction in Indonesia’s House of Representatives, M. Sarmuji, has expressed appreciation for the improved management of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, noting tangible progress compared to previous years. His assessment is based on firsthand observations while undertaking the Hajj as an ordinary pilgrim and inspecting Indonesian Hajj sectors in the Holy Land.
Sarmuji revealed that in 2023, he served on the House of Representatives’ Hajj Oversight Team (Timwas) and witnessed numerous issues concerning catering, accommodation, and transportation. This year, returning to the Holy Land in a different capacity, he observed encouraging improvements.
“Alhamdulillah, this year has seen significant service improvements,” Sarmuji stated on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
During his visits to three Indonesian Hajj sectors, Sarmuji directly questioned pilgrims about service conditions, finding no major complaints. He also noted that the key Hajj rituals at Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina proceeded smoothly.
“I asked pilgrims across three sectors; there were no significant issues with this year’s Hajj organisation. The execution at Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina was relatively smooth and well-managed,” he added.
The Golkar Party’s Secretary-General also commended Hajj officials for their increased discipline and professionalism compared to previous years.
“Hajj officials have been more disciplined this year than in recent years. They have carried out their duties effectively,” he said.
In light of these achievements, the East Java legislator expressed sincere appreciation to the government, particularly the Ministry of Hajj, for its persistent efforts in annual improvements. He stated that the tangible service enhancements experienced by pilgrims demonstrate the government’s serious commitment to providing the best care for Indonesia’s guests of Allah.
