JAKARTA — Supporting culinary micro and small enterprises (UMK) through the Sapa UMK programme is a commitment of PT Frisian Flag Indonesia (FFI). Continuing this initiative, FFI is now bringing the same spirit to Usaha Merdeka Legendary, which focuses on strengthening UMK capabilities so they can develop culinary businesses that are delicious, safe, nutritious, creative and sustainable.

The company has joined forces with the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) and Singaperbangsa University of Karawang (Unsika) for the programme. The collaboration aims to equip UMK operators with knowledge of food safety and nutrition, as well as creativity in developing culinary products.

Al Mukhlas Fikri, dean of Unsika’s Faculty of Health Sciences, said home kitchens had significant potential as the starting point for business development. Many successful culinary businesses, he noted, began in a home kitchen.

“However, for a business to grow sustainably, creativity must go hand in hand with attention to safety and nutritional value,” Mukhlas said in a press release in Jakarta on Saturday (24 October 2026).
