Samsung Unveils AI Smart Glasses in Collaboration with Google
Samsung officially introduced AI-powered smart glasses developed in collaboration with Google. The wearable device was showcased at the annual Google I/O 2026 in Mountain View, California, United States, on Tuesday 19 May 2026 local time. The smart glasses had actually been announced by Samsung as far back as October 2025. However, Samsung and Google only revealed the official design for the first time at this year’s Google I/O. In the showcase, the AI smart glasses will come in two designs, created in collaboration with two popular eyewear brands, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. With this integration, users can access Gemini hands-free via voice commands. Users will be able to request turn-by-turn navigation, search for locations around them, and obtain real-time recommendations without needing to unlock their phone. The smart glasses also support a range of productivity features. Users can view summaries of message notifications, create calendar appointments, and even place certain orders directly through the glasses. As smart glasses, Samsung and Google have equipped these glasses with real-time translation features. As the name suggests, this feature enables users to translate conversations in real time, especially when speaking with someone who speaks a different language. Not only conversations, but the built-in camera and AI on the device are also said to be able to translate text and signs seen by the user. In line with their primary function, the camera can also be used to take photos and record videos according to the user’s viewpoint.
