Samsung S26 Trio to be the Third Generation of Galaxy AI Phones, Here are 10 New Features
KOMPAS.com - The Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra have officially debuted globally on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. KOMPAS.com journalist Lely Maulida was present at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in San Francisco, California, United States. In its third generation, this flagship line still carries the identity of a Galaxy AI Phone. However, this year the approach is different. If previously AI was mostly present as an assistant feature, now the Galaxy S26 series is designed as a device with a more proactive, intuitive, and agentic AI experience. This means it is capable of acting on behalf of the user more independently and contextually. Several new AI features have been introduced. Starting from Gemini which can now help order online ride-hailing services independently, the Samsung keyboard which understands the user’s schedule, to an assistant that handles calls from unknown numbers. One of the most notable updates is the ability to automate application-based tasks using an AI agent integrated with Google Gemini. This feature allows users to delegate multi-step tasks with just one voice or text command. For example, by saying, “Order an Uber to the Palace of Fine Arts,” Gemini will open the ride-hailing application in a virtual window, browse options, select a route, and prepare the order. During the process, users can still use their phones for other activities. The progress of the task can be monitored via real-time notifications. This feature was first introduced in beta in the Gemini application on the Galaxy S26 series, starting in the United States and South Korea. In the initial phase, automation is limited to applications in the food, grocery, and ride-sharing categories. When there is a call from an unknown number, AI will take over by asking the caller for their name and the purpose of the call. All interactions between the AI and the unknown caller will appear in real-time on the phone screen. This way, the phone owner can understand who the unknown number is and what their purpose is for calling. From here, users can decide whether or not to answer the call. This feature is useful for avoiding spam calls and at the same time also useful for knowing which unknown calls are actually important. This Call Screening feature complements the Call Assist feature which first debuted in the Galaxy S24 series. Two years ago, this feature could only be used to translate calls from foreign languages. Then, in the Galaxy S25 series, it was updated again with the ability to summarize call sessions. Samsung introduced Now Nudge as the most intuitive Galaxy AI experience on the Samsung keyboard so far.
