Samsung Reveals Trends in Galaxy S26 Series Buyers, Upgrade Cycles Accelerating
JAKARTA – Samsung Electronics Indonesia has revealed trends among buyers of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Series during the pre-order period. One notable finding is the shift in the origins of users switching to this latest lineup. MX Product Marketing Senior Manager at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, Ilham Indrawan, stated that users of the Galaxy FE series are now largely moving to the Galaxy S26 Plus variant. “This is because they already have needs for a larger screen, around 6.7 inches, as well as a minimum battery capacity of about 4,900 mAh,” said Ilham during the Creator Lab event “Concert Mode with Galaxy S26 Ultra” held in South Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). According to Ilham, with those needs, FE users are no longer considering smaller-sized devices. Therefore, the Plus variant becomes the choice closest to their requirements, both in terms of screen and battery endurance. “This differs from previous trends, where users typically upgraded from two generations prior,” said Ilham. He assessed that this acceleration in upgrade cycles is triggered by significant feature improvements in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Some of these include enhanced screen quality, more powerful chipset performance, and camera capabilities with a larger aperture to support photography in various conditions. “These improvements make users feel that this year’s upgrade is more appealing than before,” he added. Although he did not detail the pre-order numbers for each variant, Ilham noted that the sales composition of the Galaxy S26 Series remains similar to the previous generation, with the Ultra variant still being the largest contributor, followed by Plus and the regular model. This finding also indicates that differentiation in user needs across variants remains the primary factor in determining choices for Samsung’s flagship devices in Indonesia.
