Samsung optimistic Galaxy S26 FE will sell despite price increase
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Samsung is optimistic that the Galaxy S26 FE will record strong sales in the Indonesian market, even though it is priced higher than the previous generation due to rising global chip prices.
The company designed the Galaxy S FE model for Samsung smartphone users looking to upgrade from mid-range devices to flagship-level experiences at an accessible price.
“We saw users of the (Samsung Galaxy) A5 and even A7, which was once available, eventually moving to the Galaxy S FE, particularly the Galaxy S25 FE last year,” said Ilham Indrawan, MX Product Marketing Senior Manager at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, at the Galaxy S26 FE launch event in Jakarta on Monday.
“That is also what we are seeing with the Galaxy S26 FE this year,” he added.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE is being sold in Indonesia at Rp11,999,000 for the 8GB/128GB RAM/ROM variant.
That price is nearly Rp2 million higher than the Galaxy S25 FE with the same memory, which was offered from Rp9,999,000.
Ilham said around 60 per cent of Galaxy S FE buyers are consumers who previously used Galaxy A series phones.
According to him, a similar trend is likely to occur with the Galaxy S26 FE in Indonesia.
Ilham added that optimism over Galaxy S26 FE sales is also underpinned by the offers the company has prepared for consumers.
The company is offering the phone with improved performance for long-term use, along with cashback for consumers who pre-order, use certain credit cards and banking services, or take advantage of trade-in schemes.
Ilham did not deny that rising chip prices also influenced the pricing of the Galaxy S26 FE.
“Regarding the chipset price increase, we don’t deny it has amplified smartphone price rises in general. The (Galaxy) S26 FE was also affected,” he said.
“But what we are committed to is ensuring the Galaxy S26 FE remains attractive to its target audience through good promotional schemes,” he added.
In addition, the presence of artificial intelligence features and an offer of six months’ access to Google AI Pro are expected to attract consumers to buy the Galaxy S26 FE despite its higher price compared with the previous generation.
Consumers in Indonesia can pre-order the Galaxy S26 FE through the Samsung.com website until 10 September 2026.
Registered pre-order customers can receive a discount of up to Rp500,000.
The Galaxy S26 FE is available in an 8GB/128GB RAM/ROM variant priced at Rp11,999,000, an 8GB/256GB variant at Rp13,999,000, and an 8GB/512GB variant, whose price will be announced ahead of the device’s first sales on 11 September 2026.
