Samsung Joins the Global US$1 Trillion Elite Club, Only 3 Asian Giants Make the Cut
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The South Korean technology company Samsung has officially recorded a market capitalisation exceeding US$1 trillion. According to the latest data, Samsung’s valuation stands at US$1.199 trillion with a share price of US$182.72 and a daily movement of 0.47%.
This achievement places Samsung in 11th position globally, while also making it the third company from the Asian continent to break through and join the elite ranks of public corporations valued at trillions of US dollars.
Three Asian Giants in the Exclusive Club
Samsung’s entry completes the representation of Asian corporations, bringing the total to three entities on this list of the largest market capitalisations. Previously, the Asian region was represented by two giants with different industrial bases.
The Taiwanese semiconductor company TSMC currently holds the 6th position worldwide and leads in the Asian region with a market capitalisation of US$2.175 trillion.
Meanwhile, from West Asia, the Saudi Arabian state-owned energy company Saudi Aramco occupies the 8th position with a valuation of US$1.741 trillion.
Samsung’s inclusion reinforces that industrial diversification in Asia, encompassing chip manufacturing, conventional energy, and consumer electronics, possesses strong fundamentals in the global capital markets.
Global Landscape and US Dominance
Overall, there are 13 public companies worldwide that currently have a market capitalisation above US$1 trillion. Although Asia has successfully recorded three representatives, the global market landscape is still dominantly controlled by corporations from the United States.
NVIDIA sits at the top with a massive valuation of US$5.051 trillion and a 5.68% increase, followed by Alphabet at US$4.787 trillion and Apple at US$4.222 trillion.
In addition to being dominated by companies in the technology and consumer electronics trading sectors such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta Platforms, this list is also filled by the retail and investment holding sectors through the presence of Walmart at US$1.036 trillion and Berkshire Hathaway with a market value of US$1.013 trillion.
