Samson movers responds

This is in response to Rohayu's letter in The Jakarta Post, on Sept. 24, titled Samson's weak removal service, and we wish to explain the true side of the story.

I came to know Ayu (Rohayu Kutep the wife of Nasser Wahab) when she called our office to move her things from Kemayoran Apartment to Taman Rasuna Apartment in Kuningan. I told her that we would need to survey her apartment in order to quote, but she rejected saying that she had not many things since the apartment she stayed in was small and at the most she will only require one truck load.

From the information she gave I told her that it would cost around Rp 1.5 million for the move and that for packing it would be an addition of Rp 250,000 per m3. She asked for a price reduction to Rp 1.1 Million and since her things had already been packed there was no need for packing.

On Friday of Sept. 5 at around 8 p.m. Ayu called me telling me that there was a possibility that she will need us to move her. On the next day, Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. I called her and said that we could not take her job as our trucks were broken and our moving crews were not available. Ayu however begged us to survey her apartment and at the same time move her out on the same day. At last with a heavy heart I and Tedja my colleague agreed to help, and since our truck were unavailable we rented an outside truck.

We were shocked to see her things they were more than a truck load and further she insisted us on packing which was never in the agreement. We started packing at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and finished only on the next day Sunday, non stop. All the while she and her husband Naseer kept swearing and using abusive words against us.

We did not even have the time to rest as they were yelling away. When I told Ayu and Nasser Wahab that they would need to pay an extra Rp.400,000 for an extra truck load he refused saying that they were within our professional responsibility.

To cut the story short, the experience with them was a nightmare which we will never forget. They paid us only Rp 600,000 and refused to pay the remainder of Rp 500,000 claiming that they lost a lamp, a small piece of carpet and had something broken.
