Sampoerna Acquires Marlboro License
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk. has acquired the license from PT Philip Morris Products SA to produce Marlboro Filter and Marlboro Mix 9 cigarettes.
“The license was the permission to produce and/or market Philip Morris cigarette products directly or indirectly in regions that have been set,” said Suartini Harintho, Sampoerna company secretary in a letter to Jakarta Stock Exchange last week.
The license granting was previously arranged in the trade mark license agreement on March 6 this year.
The agreement has been effective since the signing for an unlimited period.
“The contract will be terminated by one or two parties as arranged in the license agreement,” said Suartini.
Earlier, a Tempo source at the stock exchange said that Sampoerna will produce a new cigarette product.
“The new product will only be available in April and it is also planned it will be exported,” said the source.
