As a form of moral support and to ensure the fulfilment of children’s rights, including education and psychological recovery for two child victims of domestic violence (KDRT), the Samosir Regency Government is providing special attention in the form of counselling to both children.

The two child victims, initials ES (10), a fifth-grade primary school pupil, and MS (9), a third-grade primary school pupil, live in one of the villages in Simanindo subdistrict, Samosir Regency. They are known to have experienced violence on Tuesday afternoon (7/4/2026) when their father was not at home.

Samosir Deputy Regent Ariston Tua Sidauruk emphasised that violence against children or women cannot be tolerated as it violates the law and has serious impacts on child mental development.

“This must serve as a lesson for all families in Samosir Regency. Do not let domestic violence occur again, whether against wives or children. Children’s rights are protected by law, and physical violence carries criminal consequences. We are deeply saddened by this incident,” said Ariston in Samoy on Thursday (9/4).

He also appreciated the courage of a teacher, DR (ES’s class guardian), who first responded and reported the case to the authorities. According to him, the role of teachers is very important in protecting children from violence.

“Thank you for the concern and courage of the mother who reported the incident. This should serve as an example, hopefully more teachers like her will care about the condition of children,” he stated.

Ariston expressed his commitment to helping their educational needs until they graduate from primary school.

He also called for active involvement from parents, especially fathers, to provide attention not only materially but also emotional support to help recover the children’s trauma.

“These children must be traumatised. Therefore, psychological attention is very important so that this incident does not leave long-term impacts,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning Office (P3AP2KB) of Samosir Regency, Priska Situmorang, stated that her office is continuously providing intensive counselling, both psychologically and legally.

According to Priska, both victims have received medical treatment, including a medical examination, and their progress will continue to be monitored.

“We will continue to accompany them until this case is resolved. If the wound conditions do not improve in a few days, the children will be referred again for further treatment. Currently, the main focus is on the recovery of the children’s health and psychology,” she said.

She also assured that the children’s rights, including education, will continue to be fulfilled, and the family can contact her office at any time for counselling.
