Sahroni Urges Police to Track Buyers of Homemade Guns Made by Ki Bedil: Potential Criminal Perpetrators
Bareskrim Polri has arrested TS (58), alias “Ki Bedil,” in connection with the illegal sale of firearms in West Java. Police revealed that Ki Bedil is known among street crime perpetrators as a gunsmith. Head of the Mobile Brigade Criminal Investigation Unit of Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner Pol Arsya Khadafi, explained that Ki Bedil has a background working in the air gun industry in Cipacing, West Java. This expertise was then misused to assemble illegal firearms. Ki Bedil is suspected of having operated for 20 years and selling each weapon for around Rp 20 million. In response to this, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Ahmad Sahroni, has demanded that the perpetrator be subject to the maximum punishment for his actions. Considering that the perpetrator has consciously given rise to numerous criminal acts. “This is not just an ordinary legal violation, but a real threat to public safety. We never know how many criminal acts, loss of lives, and anxieties may have arisen due to the circulation of homemade firearms like this. Therefore, I ask Bareskrim Polri to impose the heaviest and maximum punishment on the perpetrator,” Sahroni stated in Jakarta on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Furthermore, Sahroni has also requested that the police track the network of buyers of these homemade firearms. Fearing it could lead to criminal acts in the future. “I also ask the police not to stop at the assembler alone. Track all buyers of these homemade firearms, because they are the ones who have the potential to become criminals in the field. This network must be dismantled thoroughly. Do not let illegal weapons continue to circulate freely in society; this could become a serious threat,” Sahroni said.
