Sahroni supports Attorney General's Office in targeting actors in mining cases like Samin Tan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni supports the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) in uncovering the main actors or executives from other mining cases that cause state losses, such as the PT AKT mining case with suspect Samin Tan.
“Perhaps yes, just tackle the other big cases. We support the Attorney General,” said Sahroni when interviewed in the parliamentary complex, Jakarta, on Monday.
He assessed that Kejagung is currently being explosive in handling major cases related to illegal mining activities that cause state losses.
According to him, the cases being handled are old cases that have been buried and are now being reopened. He also viewed this as a positive effort from the prosecution.
The action against Samin Tan, according to him, is part of the Attorney General’s commitment to enforcing the law more broadly.
“Yes, we’ll see later (the development of the case), don’t just stop at one person,” he said.
Previously, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving deviations in mining management with the initials ST (Samin Tan), who is the beneficial owner or manager of PT AKT, which has been operating illegally from 2017 to 2025.
Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of Kejagung Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi explained that AKT, a coal mining company based on a coal mining business work agreement (PKP2B), had its licence revoked in 2017.
However, he said, the mining company continued to operate despite being illegal or unlawful.
“PT AKT continued to carry out mining and sales of mining products unlawfully and against the law until 2025,” said Syarief at the Attorney General’s Office building, Jakarta, early Saturday morning.
