Safe Homecoming: JKN Participants Can Receive Healthcare Throughout Indonesia During Eid Holiday
BPJS Kesehatan has ensured that participants in the National Health Insurance Programme (JKN) continue to receive easy access to healthcare services during the Eid holiday and joint leave period for 1447 Hijriah. Based on the portability principle, participants can receive treatment at any healthcare facility throughout Indonesia without needing to match their residential address on their identity card (KTP).
This measure is intended to provide convenience for participants undertaking the mudik (homecoming) journey and those staying in their home villages during the Eid holiday period.
Rizzky Anugerah, Head of Communications at BPJS Kesehatan, explained that during this period participants can continue to obtain healthcare services in accordance with the portability principle within the JKN Programme. Through this principle, participants can access healthcare services throughout Indonesia in accordance with applicable procedures without being restricted by their place of residence or original area listed on their identity card, on Sunday (15/3).
“With the portability principle, participants undertaking the mudik journey can still obtain healthcare services throughout Indonesia in accordance with applicable procedures. Participants can also seek treatment at health centres, clinics, or independent medical practices that are BPJS Kesehatan partners outside their registered location, with a maximum of three visits within one month. Meanwhile, in the event of medical emergencies, participants can directly access services at the nearest hospital, including hospitals not yet working with BPJS Kesehatan,” Rizzky explained.
To support easy access to information and administrative services during the Eid holiday, BPJS Kesehatan has also provided various service channels that can be utilised by the public. Rizzky explained that participants can access the Mobile JKN Application, Administrative Services through WhatsApp (PANDAWA) at number 08118165165, or the 165 Care Center if they need information or experience difficulties relating to JKN Programme services.
“BPJS Kesehatan also provides face-to-face administrative services at branch offices. Branch office services are open on 18, 20, 23, and 24 March 2026 from 08:00 to 13:30 local time, so the public can still obtain administrative services directly both before and after the Eid holiday period,” Rizzky said.
Additionally, to provide direct support to the public during the mudik rush, BPJS Kesehatan has established mudik checkpoints at eight strategic points along the mudik routes operating from 13 to 18 March 2026. Rizzky explained that the BPJS Kesehatan mudik checkpoints are spread across eight strategic locations, including Merak Port in Banten, Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta, rest areas on toll roads 88A Cipularang, 166A Cipali, 429A Ungaran, 519A Masaran, Purabaya Terminal in Sidoarjo, and Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar.
“Through these checkpoints, mudik travellers can obtain information about the JKN Programme, health consultations, and light health examinations during their mudik journey,” Rizzky clarified.
Rizzky added that for participants in the Referral Return Programme (PRB) undertaking mudik trips outside the city, medicines can be collected at PRB pharmacies in the mudik destination areas. Meanwhile, participants with chronic illnesses requiring continued treatment can visit health centres, clinics, or independent medical practices in the mudik destination areas and then be referred to local hospitals and collect medicines from the hospital pharmacy.
“Equally important, participants need to ensure their JKN Programme membership status remains active by paying contributions regularly. This way, healthcare services can be accessed whenever and wherever needed, including during mudik journeys and when in their home villages,” Rizzky said.
On a separate occasion, Umi Sjarqiah, Chief Executive Officer of Jakarta Islamic Hospital Pondok Kopi, ensured that the healthcare facility under her leadership continues to provide services for JKN participants during the Eid holiday period. According to her, several main services continue to operate such as a 24-hour Emergency Department, inpatient wards, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy to ensure the public can still obtain healthcare services when needed.
“Given the hospital’s relatively close location to Pulo Gebang Terminal, we have prepared adjustments to service arrangements and healthcare worker schedules to ensure services continue to run optimally during the Eid holiday period. Several outpatient clinic services are also open on a limited basis on 18, 23, and 24 March 2026,” Umi explained.
She also emphasised that JKN participants located outside the area can still obtain healthcare services at the hospital in accordance with applicable regulations. In emergency situations, patients can go directly to the Emergency Department to receive treatment without requiring referral beforehand.
“In addition to service readiness, we also ensure the availability of medicines through coordination with the hospital pharmacy installation and medicine stock arrangements ahead of the Eid holiday period. Thus the availability of essential medicines can be fulfilled during the Eid holiday for patients with chronic illnesses,” Umi concluded.
