Safe and Comfortable Mudik: BPJS Kesehatan Provides Free Services for Mudik Travellers
MAJALENGKA — In support of comfortable travel for National Health Insurance (JKN) participants and the general public undertaking the 2026 Lebaran holiday exodus, BPJS Kesehatan has established Mudik Assistance Posts at several key transit points.
Through these posts, travellers can access various health services and information related to the JKN Programme during their journey.
“Travellers can access these services at the BPJS Kesehatan Mudik Posts from 13 to 18 March 2026,” explained Bayu Teja Muliawan, Director of Finance and Investment at BPJS Kesehatan, during the inauguration of the Mudik Post at the Cipali Rest Area KM 166A, Friday (13 March 2026).
The posts are located at Merak Port in Banten, Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta, Cipularang Toll Rest Area Km 88A in Purwakarta, Cipali Toll Rest Area Km 166A in Majalengka, and Ungaran Toll Rest Area Km 429 in Semarang. Additionally, posts will operate at Masaran Toll Rest Area Km 519A in Sragen, Purabaya Terminal in Sidoarjo, and Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar.
Bayu stated that BPJS Kesehatan regularly establishes Mudik Posts during each Lebaran period as a commitment to facilitating access to services for JKN participants undertaking holiday travel.
He explained that the Mudik Posts aim to ensure travellers continue to receive health services and information about the JKN Programme whilst on their journey.
BPJS Kesehatan will also maintain membership administration services at branch offices. “Branch office services will be open on 18, 20, 23, and 24 March 2026 from 08.00 to 13.30 local time, ensuring the public continues to receive direct administrative services both before and after the Lebaran holiday period,” Bayu added.
In addition to free health consultation and examination services, travellers can utilise several other services at the Mudik Posts. These include relaxation facilities, provision of basic medicines, simple emergency medical procedures, and referrals when necessary.
“Travellers stopping at the BPJS Kesehatan Mudik Posts can utilise all these services free of charge. We therefore urge travellers not to hesitate to stop and take advantage of the services we have provided,” Bayu explained.
He added that during the Lebaran holiday period, JKN participants are assured of continued access to health services even whilst outside their home region. Under the portability principle of the JKN Programme, participants can receive outpatient services at health centres, clinics, or other private medical practices that cooperate with BPJS Kesehatan if their registered health facility is closed or they are outside their home area.
However, in emergency situations, participants can visit the nearest hospital without requiring prior referral. Bayu stated that information regarding health facilities operating during the Lebaran holiday period can be accessed through the Mobile JKN Application.
“We are also continuing to strengthen cooperation with health facilities, including health centres, clinics, private medical practices, and hospitals, to ensure optimal service delivery during the Lebaran mudik period,” Bayu explained.
If JKN participants encounter difficulties accessing health services, BPJS Kesehatan provides various complaint service channels including the Mobile JKN Application, WhatsApp Administration Service (PANDAWA) at 08118165165, and BPJS Kesehatan Care Centre 165.
Meanwhile, Dr Shesilia Agnesti, a medical officer on duty at the Mudik Post at Rest Area KM 166A, reminded travellers to maintain their health before departure and to prepare necessary medicines. This is particularly important for those requiring specific medications.
“At this post we have prepared medicines for common complaints such as flu, cough, migraine, fever, and similar conditions. Last year as peak mudik season approached, we treated hundreds of visitors daily. Children are often brought along and become ill, usually because their medicines were forgotten. So remember to check your medicine stock before leaving,” she advised.
Meanwhile, Adi Fauzi, Head of Human Resources at Majalengka Police Station, stated that the police are prepared to support smooth mudik travel this year, including providing 24-hour standby service at Cipali Rest Area KM 166A.
“If members of the public experience traffic accidents, they can file a Police Report here. Our principle is not to complicate the process,” he said.
In the claims mechanism for BPJS Kesehatan participants involved in accidents, a Police Report is indeed required as part of administrative documentation.
“For those undertaking mudik, rest areas will certainly be crowded. Remember to safeguard your belongings. Also maintain your health, especially as weather is currently unpredictable. Ensure you check your vehicle for everyone’s safety during your journey,” he concluded.
