Sabuk Kamtibmas Fortifies Security for Jambi City Residents
Through Sabuk Kamtibmas, we unite strength and collective spirit to achieve safety and comfort for residents across all corners of Jambi City,” stated Jambi Regional Police Chief Inspector General Krisno H Siregar while leading the Sabuk Kamtibmas National Rally attended by various community elements at the Jambi City Mayor’s Office courtyard on Monday (25 May).
Attended by Jambi Mayor Maulana and Jambi Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Benny Ali, the rally was themed ‘Through Unity and Care, We Can Create a Safe, Comfortable Environment Free from Security Disturbances’.
In his address, Police Chief Krisno emphasised that the national rally was not merely a ceremonial event but a tangible demonstration of collective commitment to keeping Jambi safe, peaceful, and conducive.
Krisno stressed that maintaining and enhancing public safety cannot rely solely on police and military personnel; synergy and active participation from all community elements are essential.
“Through Sabuk Kamtibmas, we unite community strength, religious leaders, youth, and authorities to become the frontline guardians of their respective neighbourhoods,” Krisno explained.
To boost public trust in police personnel responsible for security in Jambi City—including the other 10 regencies and cities in Jambi—Krisno instructed officers to act professionally, humanely, and without bias. He urged them to continuously uphold and strengthen public confidence.
“Friends lost can be found; money lost can be replaced. But lost trust is hard to replace. Therefore, public trust must be safeguarded and enhanced,” Krisno warned.
At the conclusion of the Sabuk Kamtibmas National Rally, Krisno commended Mayor Maulana for his Kampung Bahagia programme, which has significantly contributed to maintaining security and public comfort even in remote areas of Jambi City.
“We strongly support and appreciate this initiative. Security is not just freedom from crime but also creating a sense of comfort and pride in one’s surroundings. This programme must be reinforced,” said Krisno, wearing a traditional head covering.
Accompanied by Mayor Maulana, Krisno explained that strategically placed CCTV cameras in each RT (neighbourhood) are effective in mitigating and addressing security disturbances in Jambi City.
In addition to being connected to the Jambi City Operation Centre at the Mayor’s Office, CCTV footage from each RT will link to the Police Headquarters Command Centre. Currently, 30 RTs are connected to the Command Centre.
“This collaboration is expected to narrow the space for criminal activity,” Krisno stated.
Meanwhile, Mayor Maulana explained that the Kampung Bahagia programme is bolstered by three pillars: village heads and RT officials, TNI Babinsa personnel, and Bhabinkamtibmas officers under Polresta Jambi’s jurisdiction.
