Saan Mustopa Consolidates NasDem in West Java Constituency 7 Following Ramadan Safari
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Saan Mustopa continued his Ramadan Safari agenda with political consolidation in Constituency 7 of West Java. The consolidation was held after Saan paid visits to several Islamic boarding schools, namely Pesantren Al-Maghfiroh in Telajung, Bekasi, and Pesantren An-Nihayah in Karawang.
In his opening remarks, Saan stressed that the series of visits to Islamic boarding schools and the political consolidation were interconnected activities.
"After we visited and sought blessings from the kyai and santri, that moral energy must naturally be carried forward into more structured political work. The spirit of sincerity and values we absorbed from the pesantren must serve as the foundation for building a healthy political force," he said in a written statement on Saturday (21/2/2026).
Saan then outlined the development of NasDem Party's electoral map over the past three general elections as a basis for reflection. He assessed that the trend of strengthening support in Java showed consistent progress since the 2014 general election.
He detailed that in the 2014 election, out of 39 constituencies in Java, there were still 24 vacant constituencies. In 2019, the number of vacant constituencies decreased to 18, while in 2024 only 12 constituencies remained unfilled. According to him, this trend demonstrates progressive expansion of support, although Java remains the most fiercely contested region.
"This data shows that our consolidation efforts have borne fruit. But the challenges ahead will not be any lighter. The year 2029 will be far more competitive," he asserted.
For this reason, Saan emphasised that consolidation in West Java Constituency 7 must be understood as strengthening the party's grassroots. He said this strengthening relies on a solid structure from the central level down to the lowest levels, including village-level party branches (DPRT) and polling stations (TPS).
"Dynamics within a party are normal. Any large organisation will have dynamics. What matters is how those dynamics produce solidarity, not division. Solidarity can only be built if our structures are strong and mutually trusting," he said.
Saan also reaffirmed NasDem Party's commitment to money-free politics. According to him, this commitment is a moral foundation that must be upheld.
"This party was founded with good intentions. If the source is clean, the flow will also be clean. We must preserve those good intentions so that the politics we practise truly deliver benefit and goodness," he said.
He assessed that the increase in NasDem's legislative seats over recent periods serves as an indicator of growing public trust. However, Saan cautioned that this achievement is not the ultimate goal, but rather momentum to strengthen commitment and collective work.
"Public trust is a mandate. We must respond to it with consistency, real work, and structural strengthening down to the grassroots," he concluded.
The Constituency 7 consolidation is expected to serve as a strategic stepping stone to strengthen readiness for the 2029 electoral contest, whilst reinforcing internal solidarity and synergy between party structures in Karawang, Bekasi Regency, and Purwakarta.
The consolidation agenda was attended by the Secretary-General of NasDem Party's Central Executive Board along with central board officials, West Java provincial board officials, and district-level board members across Constituency 7 of the DPR RI covering Karawang, Bekasi Regency, and Purwakarta down to the sub-district level. A number of provincial and regency/city council members from the Constituency 7 area were also in attendance.
