Rustini Muhaimin Visits and Assists Landslide Victims in Tegal
Jakarta — Rustini Muhaimin Iskandar, head of the National Awakening Women’s Caucus (Perempuan Bangsa), visited and distributed assistance to residents affected by a landslide disaster in Padasari Village, Tegal Regency, Central Java.
Among those whom Rustini met and engaged in dialogue were the staff and residents of Al Adalah Islamic Boarding School as well as other evacuees.
“I am grateful to be able to visit the landslide disaster victims here. They truly need support from all of us,” Rustini said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to her, dialogue with the evacuees showed that most of their basic needs during the evacuation had been met. However, Rustini — wife of Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar — said that what the evacuees most urgently need is permanent housing.
For this reason, she said the government, together with various stakeholders, is constructing temporary shelters for the affected residents, with the target for the shelters to be ready for occupation in the near future.
“For now, temporary shelters will be built. Hopefully, they can be occupied before Lebaran. The target is to have approximately 250 temporary shelter units completed by 15 March,” she said.
Rustini stated that the construction of these shelters would be carried out in phases. Nevertheless, she expressed confidence that the process could proceed smoothly thanks to the cooperation of various stakeholders in the region.
“Certainly, construction will be phased. However, with the unity of the regional government, the national parliament, the regional parliament, and all parties here, I am confident that Padasari can recover soon,” she said.
Meanwhile, she also praised the unified approach of various parties in assisting disaster-affected residents. Rustini commended the regional government, national parliament members, and Central Java regional parliament members for demonstrating strong solidarity in disaster response, particularly appreciating the presence of cadres from the National Awakening Party (Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa, PKB).
“I am grateful that the regent, national parliament members, and regional parliament members from the PKB are all present here and united in assisting residents,” she said.
