Jakarta (ANTARA) - Rustini Muhaimin Iskandar, a leader in the Central Executive Board of Perempuan Bangsa, has urged Indonesian citizens to return to their families through the “Return to Family” movement.

According to Rustini, the “Return to Family” movement is not merely an action of taking to the streets, but a genuine form of concern for the current state of families in Indonesia.

“Today, we are not just gathering. We are here bringing anxiety, love, and a great responsibility to save the foundation of the nation, which is the family,” said the wife of the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, alias Cak Imin, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to her, the strength of the nation greatly depends on the strength of the family. However, the current condition of families in Indonesia faces significant challenges, particularly due to the strong influence of digital media that is beginning to erode communication and values within households.

“A strong nation is born from a strong family. However, today, children are growing up without complete guidance, communication is weakening, and noble values are starting to erode,” she said.

Therefore, she urged citizens to strengthen the role of the family as the primary foundation for character education through this movement.

“This is not a step backwards, but an effort to strengthen the roots. The family is the first school, the mother is the primary madrasah, and the father is an irreplaceable pillar. When the home is strong, the nation will stand firm,” she stated.

She then reminded all citizens that child-rearing is a long-term investment for the nation’s future.

“Let us bring back the warmth in the family, reduce the distance created by screens, and strengthen communication and affection in our homes,” she urged.

She also encouraged policymakers to introduce regulations that favour families, protect children, and strengthen the role of women in child-rearing.
