JAKARTA: The art of the late, great artist Rustamadji will be displayed at the Rustamadji Dalam Kenangan (Rustamadji in Memory) exhibition at the Galeri Pasar Seni (arts market) at Ancol Dreamland from March 14 to April 7.
"The exhibition is a collaboration between PT Pembangungan Jaya Ancol, developer of the amusement center, and the Rustamadji Foundation. The exhibition will commemorate a year after the painter's death and the 27th anniversary of Pasar Seni," said PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol spokesman Mukhrijul Adli as quoted by Beritajakarta.com over the weekend.
The show, which will officially be opened by former minister of education Fuad Hassan, will display Rustamadji's 72 paintings, sculptures and books. Among his works are Rawa Jombor (1980), Merapi (1984), Bunga Bangkai (1994) and Pohon Pisang (1996).
A poetry reading by Chairul Umam, of Rustamadji's poems, will also take place during the event. Finally, a discussion of his works featuring keynote speaker and former minister of education Daoed Joesoef will be staged on Thursday March 14 at 7:30 p.m. -- JP
