The Russian government is said to have offered to stop providing intelligence aid to Iran on the condition that the United States halts its intelligence support for Ukraine. However, the proposal reportedly received no positive response from Washington.

Sources familiar with the negotiations stated that Russia’s envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, presented the idea to representatives of US President Donald Trump, namely Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during a meeting in Miami last week.

Nevertheless, Dmitriev later denied the existence of such a proposal and described the report as false in a post on platform X.

The issue has sparked concerns among European Union diplomats. They view Moscow as attempting to drive a wedge between Europe and the United States amid the critical situation of the war in Ukraine.

One EU diplomat even called the proposal outrageous and stated that the meeting between Witkoff and Dmitriev has not shown any real progress towards resolving the conflict.

Meanwhile, the White House has chosen not to comment on the report. The Russian Embassy in Washington also did not respond to requests for comment.

On the previous Thursday, Kremlin officials stated that the process of US-mediated peace negotiations on Ukraine is currently suspended.

Other sources indicated that Russia also submitted several additional proposals related to Iran to the US, all of which were rejected.

Axios reported that one such proposal was the transfer of Iran’s enriched uranium to Russia.

Since the conflict began, Russia has reportedly expanded its intelligence and military cooperation with Iran.

Indeed, The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Moscow provides satellite imagery and drone technology to help Tehran target US forces in the region, although the Kremlin denied these claims.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump mentioned the possible linkage between the Iran issue and the Ukraine conflict.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin might be helping Iran a little,” he said, adding the possibility that Russia views the United States as also aiding Ukraine.

To date, the US continues to maintain intelligence cooperation with Ukraine, even though some military and financial aid has been reduced.

Sharing intelligence remains one of the main pillars of Washington’s support for Kyiv amid the conflict that shows no signs of abating.
