Rush to Accelerate Village Solar PV Plant Development: Danantara Secures Rp23 Trillion Investment to Build a Factory
JAKARTA — The head of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (CEO) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani has revealed that Danantara has received an investment of US$1.4 billion, or about Rp23.66 trillion, to build a factory supporting a solar power plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 50 gigawatts (GW). He explained that the factory, once completed, could support the government’s plan to accelerate the construction of PLTS in several villages, particularly those with existing electricity distribution networks.
Sampled after a limited meeting on accelerating the energy transition with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday (5/3/2026), Rosan said: “Coincidentally there is investment entering Indonesia. The factory will be finished this year with an investment of US$1.4 billion and a capacity of 50 gigawatts. So the investment has entered and will be completed by the end of this year. It will also help us to utilise domestic production for the project acceleration of this PLTS.”
In the Istana, from Thursday afternoon through the evening, President Prabowo held a limited meeting with the Danantara CEO who is also the Minister of Investment and Involvement/Head of BKPM, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, the Chief Executive Officer of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa, and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto. In the meeting, the President established a task force for accelerating the transition to new and renewable energy (EBT). The task force is led by the ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
With regard to the acceleration, Rosan noted that Danantara has currently built a single 1 MW solar power plant prototype in Sumenep, Madura, East Java.
“The prototype will be reviewed and viewed directly by teams, both from ESDM and Mendikti, to then be rolled out,” said Rosan.
Rosan added that in the same meeting, President Prabowo instructed Danantara to study financing options for building PLTS in several villages in Indonesia.
“The President gave guidance that the construction could be carried out with several funding options. We were asked to study and examine the structure, in cooperation with domestic entities as well as private parties that possess technology and capabilities in solar energy and batteries. That was the discussion just now; the focus is on that,” the CEO of Danantara stated.
