Rupiah at Rp17,400, BI Governor Meets with Airlangga's Office
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo visited the office of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto this morning at 10:30 WIB on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Haryo Limanseto stated that Perry came to the Coordinating Minister’s office for a ‘brunch’ or breakfast-lunch to discuss the latest developments in the economic situation. “Brunch, discussing the latest economic conditions,” Haryo said briefly to CNBC Indonesia. This meeting took place ahead of the release of Indonesia’s economic growth data by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at 11:00 WIB today. Currently, the rupiah exchange rate is under increasing pressure against the US dollar. The pressure on the Garuda currency has deepened after it opened weaker at the start of trading. Citing Refinitiv data, at 09:07 WIB, the rupiah was observed weakening 0.22% to the level of Rp17,403/US.ThispositionindicatesadeeperweakeningcomparedtothemorningtradingopenatRp17, 380/US.
