Rumours of a fuel price increase (BBM) on Wednesday (1/4/2026) have caused unrest among the public. Residents have flocked to Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU), particularly those owned by Pertamina, to refuel before the prices rise as per the circulating rumours. One such location is the Pertamina SPBU Gading Serpong 34.158.15 in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency. Meanwhile, queues of motorcycles appear not too significant and remain relatively under control. Several four-wheeled vehicles can be seen snaking out beyond the SPBU area, causing a slowdown in traffic flow around the site. The queues even temporarily occupied one lane of the road, forcing other vehicles to slow down as they passed. Car driver named Iqbal (29) said he deliberately came early to avoid longer queues in the evening. “I got info from a friend and social media saying it will rise tomorrow, so better fill up full now. Afraid it will be busier tonight,” said Iqbal when met by Kompas.com at the location on Tuesday. He admitted to having queued for about 20 minutes before finally getting his turn to refuel. “It’s smooth enough, not limited by the staff, they’re friendly,” he said. An online motorcycle taxi driver, Latif (46), said he had heard the news about the fuel price hike rumours. However, he considers the information not yet fully clear. “Regarding the BBM issue, I’ve heard it, but how much the increase in percentage is still unclear. We’ll see how valid it is later,” said Latif. Nevertheless, Latif said his visit to the SPBU was not driven by the rumour, but rather it has become a habit to refuel there.
