Rubbish truck queues stretched for miles following a landslide at Bantargebang Waste Processing Centre (TPST) in Bekasi, West Java.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government closed zone 4A of the facility after a landslide on Sunday 8 March, creating a bottleneck in the waste disposal system. By Friday 13 March, the backlog had created a queue approximately eight kilometres long along Pangkalan Lima Road and Narogong Highway in the Ciketing Udik and Cikiwul areas.

The extended queues trapped rubbish collection vehicles and caused additional congestion on the surrounding road network. Drivers were forced to wait extended periods, with some resorting to using their mobile phones whilst stationary. The closure disrupted Jakarta’s waste management operations and highlighted the city’s reliance on the single facility for waste processing.
