The handling of rubbish piles at Pasar Induk Kramat Jati in East Jakarta continues to be addressed. Perumda Pasar Jaya targets the completion of rubbish pile handling tomorrow.

“Insha’Allah, within the next three days it will be finished. On Friday (10/4) we target all handling to be completed,” said the Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, at Pasar Pal Meriam, Matraman, as reported by Antara on Thursday (9/4/2026).

This target is a follow-up to the deadline given by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung regarding the acceleration of rubbish issues in the capital’s largest market area.

Agus assured that his side, together with the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), continues to work intensively to resolve the problem. He is optimistic that the cleaning process can be completed according to the set target.

In the acceleration effort, Pasar Jaya deploys dozens of rubbish transport vehicles every day.

700 Tonnes of Rubbish Transported Per Day

Agus explained that on average, there are about 40 trips of rubbish transport per day. With that capacity, the volume of rubbish that can be transported reaches 600-700 tonnes every day.

“Alhamdulillah, we are working together with the Environmental Agency. Every day almost 40 trips. That equals 600 to 700 tonnes of rubbish that we transport,” he stated.

According to Agus, this step is carried out as part of efforts to normalise the market’s environmental conditions, which were once filled with rubbish piles.

In addition to transporting rubbish to processing sites, Pasar Jaya is preparing long-term solutions to address similar issues so they do not recur.

One of the efforts being prepared is the operation of an incinerator machine or rubbish burning machine in the market area. However, Agus mentioned that the equipment is currently still in the trial stage.

Suspected Cause of Rubbish Piles

Previously reported, Pramono Anung targeted rubbish handling to be completed within the next 7-8 days. He stated that this rubbish accumulation is the impact of disruptions at the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) Bantar Gebang, particularly in zone 4A which was affected, thus stalling transport activities.

“The details will be explained by the Director of Pasar Jaya. Hopefully in seven or eight days it will be finished. It is currently being handled,” said Pramono at Pasar Gardu Asem, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/4).

According to Pramono, the effect of the disruption in zone 4A caused the distribution of rubbish to Kramat Jati to be hindered and triggered larger than usual accumulation. He emphasised that the DKI Provincial Government has deployed a team to accelerate transport.

“Indeed, due to the impact from zone 4A Bantar Gebang, which then has a chain reaction until today. I have asked the Director of Pasar Jaya to immediately resolve the one at Kramat Jati,” he said.
