Rp 8.9 Billion Disbursed to Build 128 Decent Simple Houses in Kudus
PT Djarum and Polytron have continued the Simple Decent Housing Programme (RSLH) as part of efforts to eradicate extreme poverty (PKE) in Central Java, particularly in Kudus Regency. A total of 128 houses were renovated and rebuilt at a cost of Rp 8.9 billion. The symbolic handover took place at the Kudus Regency Pendopo on Thursday (23/4). The ceremony was attended by Kudus Regent Sam’ani Intakoris, General Manager of Community Development at PT Djarum Achmad Budiharto, Finance Director of PT Hartono Istana Teknologi (Polytron) Guido One Tuwan, regency government officials along with relevant agencies, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and representatives from local sub-districts and villages.
This phase 1 of the RSLH programme in 2026 covers four sub-districts in Kudus Regency, including Bae (24 houses), Dawe (25 houses), Jati (23 houses), and Kaliwungu (56 houses). Each house was renovated or rebuilt with a budget of approximately Rp 70 million per unit.
One of the RSLH beneficiaries, Kartijo, a resident of Margorejo Village in Dawe Sub-district, expressed his joy upon receiving the renovated house. He recounted that the previous condition of the house often made his family uncomfortable, especially during the rainy season.
“When it rains heavily, water often enters because the roof leaks in several places. We could only collect the water as best we could and hope it doesn’t get worse. Now our house is much better, safer, and more comfortable to live in. I am very grateful to PT Djarum and Polytron for this assistance. I hope programmes like this continue so that more people can benefit,” said Kartijo, who works as a therapist.
Kudus Regent Dr. Ars. Sam’ani Intakoris, S.T., M.T., appreciated the contributions of PT Djarum and Polytron to the RSLH programme, which he deemed to provide direct benefits to the community. Sam’ani emphasised that the RSLH programme represents an effective synergy between local government and the private sector in promoting community welfare.
“On behalf of the Kudus Regency Government, the Regent, Deputy Regent, and all residents of Kudus Regency, we extend our highest appreciation for the commitment of PT Djarum and Polytron in sustainably supporting the provision of decent housing. This programme aligns with the local government’s efforts to provide a better life for the community, especially for those in vulnerable conditions. In addition to improving the dignity of the people, this programme by PT Djarum and Polytron directly touches the community. Indirectly, it can also boost the economy. We hope this collaboration can be strengthened further so that its impact is even broader,” said Sam’ani.
Meanwhile, General Manager of Community Development at PT Djarum Achmad Budiharto stated that the handover of Simple Decent Housing (RSLH) to 128 Kudus residents is a manifestation of the company’s sustainable contribution, which not only focuses on business growth but also on community welfare. He affirmed that the 75th anniversary of PT Djarum serves as a reflection and reinforcement of the commitment to grow together with the community by delivering social programmes with real impact, including the provision of decent housing and supporting the development of Kudus City to be more advanced and sustainable.
“This RSLH handover ceremony to the community also coincides with PT Djarum’s birthday on 21 April. Through this programme, we hope to provide housing that is not only decent but also built to safe, comfortable, and healthy standards. The house designs are adjusted to the number of family members and equipped with good air circulation, lighting, and sanitation,” said Budiharto.
According to Budiharto, the success of the RSLH programme is inseparable from the active role of various parties, including local government and the local community. With the synergy established, it is hoped that the built housing can provide long-term benefits while supporting a healthier and more productive community life. The RSLH programme applies comprehensive interventions so that beneficiaries do not need to incur costs in the construction process, while also involving the surrounding community to strengthen the value of mutual cooperation.
On the other hand, Finance Director of PT Hartono Istana Teknologi (Polytron) Guido One Tuwan emphasised that the company’s participation in this programme aligns with Polytron’s core values, which place social responsibility as an important part of its business journey. With two factories located in the Kudus area, Polytron feels an emotional closeness to the community and is compelled to contribute to improving their quality of life. This programme also reflects Polytron’s journey, which not only focuses on technology development but also on benefits for the surrounding environment.
“We want Polytron’s presence to truly be felt by the community. Through the 2026 RSLH programme, we hope that better housing can provide a sense of security, comfort, and serve as a starting point for a better life for the beneficiaries,” said Guido.
The renovation of 128 houses in Kudus Regency consists of 72 houses from PT Djarum and 56 from Polytron. In addition, throughout 2026, PT Djarum and Polytron also target renovating and rebuilding 492 houses in cities in Central Java such as Brebes, Wonogiri, Salatiga, Rembang, Pati, Semarang Regency, and Temanggung.
On Wednesday (29/4), PT Djarum will inaugurate 10 houses in Rungkang Village, Brebes, Central Java. This area still faces poverty challenges, particularly regarding the lack of decent housing due to low community income, with the majority relying on the informal sector and small-scale agriculture.
