Rp 100 Million Grant per RW Deemed Insufficient, Bekasi City Government Considers Increase to Rp 150 Million
Bekasi, Kompas.com – The Bekasi City Government (Pemkot Bekasi) is opening the possibility of increasing grant funding for Rukun Warga (RW) from Rp 100 million to Rp 150 million in the future.
However, this plan will not be immediately realised, as it awaits the results of the evaluation of the implementation and reporting of the 2026 budget usage.
Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto stated that the current grant value is still deemed insufficient to meet the needs of development at the neighbourhood level.
Tri emphasised that the policy to increase the budget can only be decided after the local government evaluates the implementation and reports on the use of RW grant funds in 2026.
“We will first look at the reporting for 2026 and how it is implemented. So this will be for 2027,” he said.
Currently, the process of applying for and disbursing RW grant funds for 2026 has been opened. The Bekasi City Government targets that all application processes can be completed before mid-year.
“Applications can be submitted now. But I hope that before June, the applications should be completed,” Tri said.
He explained that the RW grant programme is one of the Bekasi City Government’s strategies to accelerate community-based development.
The funds can be used for various needs, from small-scale infrastructure repairs to community empowerment.
In addition, this programme is also linked to strengthening environmental management, particularly in waste handling. One of the requirements for disbursing the grant is the presence of a waste bank at the RW level.
Tri hopes that the waste bank will not only serve as a waste management facility but also provide economic value through the recycling process.
Thus, the programme is expected not only to solve environmental issues but also to encourage the economic independence of residents.
In its implementation, Tri emphasised that the RW grant funds are under the supervision of the Bekasi City Inspectorate. According to him, supervision is an important part of local financial governance.
