Row Houses for Senen Railway Track Residents Using SOE Land
The government has confirmed that the construction of relocation housing for residents along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, will utilise land owned by a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE). The Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, along with the Head of the SOE Management Agency (BP) Dony Oskaria, directly inspected the project’s readiness on Thursday evening (2/4/2026). This inspection follows up on a coordination meeting previously held at the BP SOE building. The meeting discussed land provision and the acceleration of housing construction for communities who have long lived along the railway tracks. In his official statement, Maruarar conveyed that the government is acting quickly to follow up on the meeting’s outcomes. He appreciated the readiness of the BP SOE and related parties, deemed prompt in starting the construction process. “Today I am very pleased to see the very quick readiness. The process is already underway, with some areas even starting to be cleared. Employees have begun working, and the drawings have been provided with a clear plan,” he added. The land used for this housing construction belongs to PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero). This project serves as an example of collaboration among SOEs in supporting the programme to provide decent housing for low-income communities. A total of 324 row house units are planned to be built at the site. In addition to housing, the government will also provide supporting facilities in the form of open spaces that can be utilised by residents, particularly children. The government hopes this project can be realised soon and provide more decent, safe, and comfortable housing for the residents along the railway tracks in the Senen area.
