JAKARTA (JP): The president of Rotary International, Herb Brown, is scheduled to arrive here on Jan. 5, 1996 for a four-day visit in connection with Rotary's involvement in the polio eradication program in Indonesia.
Tjoet Rachman, chairperson of the organizing committee for the visit said yesterday that Brown is expected to share knowledge and discuss the progress of the programs with Indonesian officials.
According to Brown, for Indonesia's routine polio immunization programs from 1987 to 1992 Rotary International granted a total of US$9,072,400, and another $1 million for the National Immunization Drives in September and October.
Abidin Kartasubrata, the chairman of Indonesia Polio Plus National Committee of Rotary International said Rotary had also donated 5,000 thermos bottles to keep polio vaccine, 10,000 T- shirts, 12,000 posters, 5,000 brochures, 100 banners, 3,000 stickers and 500 signs. "This list does not include individual donations from Rotary clubs in the country," he said. (sur)
