Rosan: Danantara opens opportunities for acquiring Eramet shares in Weda Bay
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani, has stated that his company is open to various strategic investment opportunities in Indonesia, including acquiring shares in foreign companies. This was conveyed by Rosan in response to reports that Danantara plans to acquire shares in the French company Eramet at PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) in North Maluku. According to him, Danantara is always ready to forge strategic partnerships, including corporate actions. “We are basically open, yes, to discussions and talks regarding investments in Indonesia, and Danantara can serve as a strong local partner,” Rosan said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. Rosan indicated that discussions are still at the initial stage and no final decision has been made regarding the acquisition plan. He hopes that Danantara’s presence will strengthen Indonesia’s position in national strategic projects. “We are open. We are also discussing with Eramet,” he added. In 2025, CEO of Eramet Indonesia, Jerome Baudelet, stated that strategic investment cooperation in the intensive nickel sector is being intensively discussed with Danantara and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA). Danantara and INA, in collaboration with the French mining company Eramet, are exploring the formation of a strategic investment platform in the nickel sector from upstream to downstream. At that time, Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir, stated that the collaboration aims to develop a sustainable and integrated ecosystem for electric vehicle (EV) battery raw materials in Indonesia. He explained that in the partnership, Danantara and INA will manage long-term financing to support investment development, while Eramet will contribute through technical expertise and experience in executing large-scale mining projects in accordance with international sustainability standards.
