Roojai Enters the Health Insurance Market with a Modular Protection Concept
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Digital insurance company, Roojai Indonesia, has officially entered the health insurance market with a modular protection concept, providing greater flexibility for people in determining their health coverage according to their individual needs.
CEO of Roojai Indonesia, Benny Fajarai, in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, said that decisions regarding health insurance are very personal, but the process of choosing the right product is often complicated and restrictive.
“Through this product, we want to provide clarity and flexibility for people to determine the most relevant protection priorities, while ensuring that the protection remains reasonable and truly provides benefits,” he said.
This health insurance product is marketed by Roojai as a “managing general agent” (MGA), with policies guaranteed by licensed insurance companies and supported by global reinsurance.
Roojai Indonesia is part of Roojai Group, a regional digital insurance group founded in Thailand. Roojai Group is known for its approach to providing simpler, more transparent, and more relevant insurance products to customers.
Since starting operations in Indonesia in 2022, Roojai has marketed limited protection products such as critical illness insurance and personal accident insurance, before expanding its portfolio to motor vehicle insurance in 2023.
Indonesia, said Benny, is one of the markets with a large population and an increasing level of digital adoption, which aligns with Roojai’s digital and modular insurance approach.
“With the increasing awareness of the importance of additional protection, the launch of this health insurance is a strategic step for Roojai to expand its presence in Indonesia and reaffirm its long-term commitment to this market,” he said.
Unlike conventional health insurance products that are based on fixed packages, Roojai offers a modular structure. Customers can start with inpatient protection as a base, then add various benefits as needed, such as options for hospital networks, coverage areas both domestically and abroad, outpatient benefits, and “deductible” or “co-payment” options.
Each change in benefits will be immediately reflected in the estimated premium in real time through Roojai’s digital platform.
This structure is designed to remain within a framework of sound and responsible underwriting, with clear terms and benefit limits to ensure the sustainability of protection.
Meanwhile, Chief Growth Officer of Roojai Group, Mathieu Guiraud, explained that the modular approach allows customers to adjust premiums transparently.
“Through our digital platform and professional contact center, customers can choose the most relevant benefits and adjust premiums in a simple and transparent process,” he said.
