Roof of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Collapses: Angkasa Pura's Explanation
A video circulating on social media showed the roof or ceiling of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, collapsing on Monday (6/4/2026). From the footage, water was seen dripping from the airport’s roof, soaking the room. This situation led to a disruption at one point on the roof in the Boarding Lounge area at Gate 7 of Terminal 3. “The disruption at that single point on the roof lasted for approximately five minutes. Airport operational staff immediately took action, including cleaning and restricting access to the affected area, so the situation could be quickly controlled,” said Assistant Deputy for Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport KC, Yudistiawan, in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Monday. “The area is now clean, and the situation has returned to conducive conditions, with airport operations running smoothly,” he added. Furthermore, it was conveyed that airport personnel conduct 24-hour surveillance of all facilities, including building infrastructure. Thus, if any potential disruption is detected, the surrounding area will be sterilised from travellers and airport workers. The aim is to minimise the impact. As a precautionary measure, said Yudistiawan, airport users are urged to always monitor flight schedule updates through official airline channels or information screens at the airport. They are also advised to arrive earlier to anticipate any schedule adjustments due to weather conditions. Windshear refers to a drastic change in wind speed and/or direction over a short distance. Not only affecting infrastructure, this condition also impacts several flight movements, particularly during the landing phase. Considering safety factors following high-intensity rainfall, based on data from the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC), 12 flights were diverted to other airports.
