Bekasi, Kompas.com — The alleged corruption case within the Bekasi Regency Government not only implicates local officials and private parties but also brings into focus the role of an active police officer who is now under scrutiny.

The name Yayat Sudrajat alias “Lippo” has emerged in a series of court proceedings in the case ensnaring former Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara at the Bandung Corruption Court. He appeared as a witness in the matter.

The Head of Public Relations at Depok Police Resort, Made Budi, confirmed that Yayat was summoned as a witness in the alleged bribery case for the project.

“Yes, that’s correct, (the individual was summoned as a witness) related to that case,” said Made when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

“At present, he is registered as a member of the Cimanggis Police Sector. There is no information regarding this (resignation),” added Made.

In the trial, Yayat admitted to his role as a liaison between private parties and departments in Bekasi Regency.

He is said to have taken a profit of around 7 percent from each project that was successfully secured.

From that role, Corruption Eradication Commission investigators recorded funds received by Yayat amounting to Rp 16 billion over the period from 2022 to 2025.

The case itself originated from “ijon” practices for projects within the Bekasi Regency Government.

Ade Kuswara, along with his father HM Kunang and private party Sarjan, have been named as suspects after being caught in a sting operation.

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, explained that the case began with communications between Ade and Sarjan regarding project packages within the Bekasi Regency Government.

“The total ‘ijon’ given by Sarjan to Regent Ade together with HM Kunang amounted to Rp 9.5 billion. The money was handed over in four instances through intermediaries,” said Asep.

In addition, Ade is also alleged to have received other fund flows throughout 2025 amounting to Rp 4.7 billion, bringing the total receipts to Rp 14.2 billion.

On the other hand, Sumarni emphasised that Yayat is no longer part of her unit.

“The individual is not a member of ours. Mr Y is a member of Cimanggis Police Sector, Depok Police Resort. He was indeed here previously, but was transferred in 2017,” Sumarni stated firmly.

Amid a case that initially centred on “ijon” practices for projects in the Bekasi Regency Government, the emergence of an active officer’s name shows that the network of this matter not only involves officials and private parties but also touches law enforcement institutions.

This case now goes beyond project bribery to question how far its networks extend beyond the structural boundaries of local government.
